Notes: What are Cookies?
A "cookie" is a small text file which a web
server can store temporarily in your computer via your web browser. This
helps your browser remember some specific information which the web
server can later retrieve. For example, when you browse through an "online
shopping mall" and add items to your "shopping cart" as you browse, a list
of the items you've picked up is stored by your browser so that you can
pay for all of the items at once when you're finished shopping. It's much
more efficient for each browser to keep track of information like this
than to expect the web server to have to remember who bought what,
especially if there are thousands of people using it the web server at a
time.
A cookie file is not a secret way for a web server to find out everything
about you and what you have on your hard drive. The only way that any
private information could be in your cookie file would be if you
personally gave that information to a web server in the first place and it
decided to put that information into your cookie file for some reason.
Also, each cookie is marked with information about what web server it's
for. There is absolutely no way for a web server to get access
to any private information about you or your system through cookies. Also,
there is no possible way that a virus could be spread through the use of
cookies.
Notes: On Privacy & Security Settings (Internet
Explorer Only) If your Internet Explorer privacy and
security settings are set too high you may encounter problems with some
websites.
Here is how to reset your Internet Explorer settings to defaults:
Open Internet Explorer and click on "Internet Options".
The Internet Options window will appear with several tabs along the top. The two
tabs that we will work with are the Security and the Privacy tabs.
Click the Security tab at the top of the Internet Options window.
Most often, the Security level for the Internet Zone has been changed from the
default (Medium) to either High or Custom. Press the button that says Default
Level, and this will reset your settings back to the default level. If the
Default Level button is greyed out, then your settings have not been modified.
After resetting your Security settings back to the default level, click the
Privacy tab at the top of the Internet Options window.
As with the Security settings, the Privacy settings are often changed from the
default (Medium) to either High or Custom. Press the button that says Default,
and this will reset your settings back to the default level. If the Default
Level button is greyed out, then your settings have not been modified.
Another thing to check on the Privacy screen is how IE handles your browser
cookies. Click the Advanced button on the Privacy screen. Make sure that
"override automatic cookie handling" is NOT checked.
Press the OK button to close the Advanced Privacy Settings window.
Press the OK button on the Internet Options screen to close that window.
Close and re-start Internet Explorer.
We recommend that you use this opportunity to make sure that your system is upto
date with all patches and the latest version of Internet Explorer:

If you continue having problems, please consult with a qualified Service
Technician, hopefully you are one or are contemplating being one. Either way
good luck!
